The Macromax AZS 1150 AF is an oddity, and that is most of its charm. It was made by Goko, a small Japanese maker almost nobody has heard of, and released in January 2000 — right at the end of the film compact era. Its selling point is written on the lens barrel itself: SUPER MACRO GOKO LENS. Where most compacts of the period stopped focusing at 0.6m, this one goes down to 0.25m, which puts genuine close-up work on the table from a pocket camera. Paired with a 38-115mm zoom range, it covers far more ground than its obscurity suggests.

Worth being straight about what this is: a little-documented camera from a maker who left almost no trace, so there is no collector following and no reference material to speak of. What there is instead is a 0.25m close-focus capability that most compacts cannot touch, and a camera nobody else at the table will be carrying. Note that it is on the larger side for a 35mm compact and takes a moment to power up.
