HMT Chirag

The HMT Chirag is one of the quiet classics of Indian watchmaking — a hand-wound mechanical from Hindustan Machine Tools, the state-owned Bangalore factory that built watches under licence from Citizen from the 1960s until production wound down in 2016. HMT put a reliable mechanical watch on the wrist of a generation of Indians, and the Chirag is the archetype: modest case, clean dial, and a movement that simply keeps going. This one is New Old Stock — it left the factory and was never worn.
