HMT Vijay Quartz - Blue

The HMT Vijay is one of HMT's most enduring model names — one that, alongside Sanjay, Kanchan and Sangam, made HMT watches feel personal rather than foreign to Indian buyers. This one has a pale blue dial set inside a silver chapter ring, in HMT's soft cushion case, and it's a complete box piece — all original, nothing swapped.

Why the Vijay matters:

HMT began making watches in Bangalore in 1961 in partnership with Citizen Watch Co. of Japan, and for decades it was the watch on Indian wrists — handed over at weddings, at retirements, at promotions. The government closed the last watch plant in 2016, and HMT-branded watches are now assembled in small runs by HMT Limited's Auxiliary Business Division in Bengaluru. The Vijay is one of the names that carried through, and this blue dial is among the better-looking ones it wears.
