Kodak Gold 200 (120 Format)

The most beloved consumer colour film on earth, in the format that makes it sing. Kodak Gold 200 returned to 120 in March 2022 after a twenty-five year absence — the first time it had been offered in medium format since Gold replaced the old Kodacolor Gold emulsion in 1997. That warm, golden, slightly nostalgic palette everyone knows from 35mm behaves differently across a 6x6 negative: the grain that gives Gold its character in small format all but dissolves, leaving saturated, sun-warmed colour with genuinely impressive sharpness. It was also priced roughly 25% below Portra and Ektar in 120, which is what made medium format colour approachable again for a lot of people.
