Sony Cyber-shot DSC-H55

The Sony Cyber-shot DSC-H55 is the one to pick if you want reach. It packs a 10x Sony G zoom running 25-250mm into a body that still fits a jacket pocket — wide enough for a room at one end, long enough for a portrait or a detail across the street at the other, which is a span no other camera on this shelf comes close to. Behind it is a Super HAD CCD sensor, optical SteadyShot to keep the long end usable, and a 3-inch screen. It also takes both SD and Memory Stick, which makes it the easiest Sony here to live with.

Barely used and fully working. The 25-250mm range is the reason to buy this one — most compacts of the era started at 35mm and stopped around 120mm, and the difference in what you can actually photograph is substantial. Takes ordinary SD cards as well as Memory Stick; a card is not included.
