The film with the most interesting backstory on this page. Fujifilm 400 launched in 2023 as the replacement for Superia X-TRA 400 in North America — except the box says Made in USA, and Fujifilm has never coated colour film in America. Photographers pulled the DX barcodes off the rebate edge and traced them straight back to Rochester: this is a Kodak-manufactured emulsion, essentially UltraMax 400, sold in a green box. Some shooters insist the two aren't quite identical — the datasheets differ slightly, and the old Fuji fourth cyan layer is gone — but the look is unmistakably Kodak: warm, punchy, saturated, with generous latitude. We think you should know exactly what you are buying, so there it is.
