Konica Autoreflex TC + Hexanon AR 50mm f/1.7

Konica's Autoreflex TC was a compact, entry-level SLR that let you pick a shutter speed and leave the rest to the meter, and this one comes with the Hexanon AR 50mm f/1.7 that was its standard lens. It is a small, sensible way into 35mm film photography with a lens built to the Konica Hexanon standard. The AR bayonet also has a long history, so the lens can be paired with other Konica AR bodies. This copy is in excellent condition with a meter that works and a shutter that fires at all speeds.

Specifications

• Body introduced by Konica in 1976, paired with an updated version of the Hexanon AR 50mm f/1.7
• Shutter-priority automatic exposure; the meter runs from 1.35V batteries
• Shutter speeds from 1/1000 to 1/8 second, plus B
• ASA film speed range 25 to 1600
• Control Center Viewfinder with match-needle aperture indicator, manual exposure indicator, and split-image/microprism focusing
• Film winding and rewinding are manual; the shutter release stays locked until the winder lever is set to ready, which also switches on the meter
• No depth-of-field preview
• Hexanon AR 50mm f/1.7: 6 elements in 5 groups, 6 aperture blades, f/1.7 to f/16, 55mm filter thread
• Lens focusing distance is 0.55m on the later version fitted to the TC; the earlier lens focuses to 0.45m

Condition

• Cosmetic: Excellent overall, with minor signs of age and use on the body. The lens is very clean.
• Functional: The light meter is non-working. The shutter fires mechanically at all speeds.

Included

• Konica Autoreflex TC body
• Hexanon AR 50mm f/1.7 lens
• Lens cap
• UV filter

The TC does not have depth-of-field preview, so judge framing and depth by eye. The meter runs on 1.35V cells, which are no longer sold, so a modern cell needs a workaround to read accurately. A well-kept Hexanon 50mm is a practical standard lens for this body.
