Nikon F2 + AF Nikkor 50mm f/1.8D

Nikon's F2 was the all-mechanical professional SLR that carried the company through the 1970s, and this kit pairs an Nikon F2 body with the metered DP-2 Photomic finder and an AF Nikkor 50mm f/1.8D. The DP-2 was the LED-indicator finder of the F2S generation, so it is a clean step up from the needle-metered original. The body itself needs no batteries; only the finder's meter does. Read the condition and compatibility notes below before buying, because the meter and self-timer are not working and the AF-D lens cannot couple to the finder's meter.

• Mechanical focal-plane shutter with bulb and a top speed of 1/2000 s.
• The camera body runs without batteries; the metered DP-2 finder draws power from its own cells.
• DP-2 finder uses a CdS light meter with two LED indicators for over and under exposure.
• DP-2 metering range is EV -2 to 17, with an ISO range of 12 to 6400.
• DP-2 was introduced in 1973 and built until 1976, as part of the F2S generation.
• Pre-AI "rabbit ear" coupling on the finder requires the aperture ring to be indexed by hand when changing lenses.
• The Nikon F bayonet accepts pre-AI, AI and AI-S Nikkors; AF Nikkor D lenses mount but require stop-down metering.
• The finder range is interchangeable, so the metered prism can be swapped for an unmetered one.

Condition

• Cosmetic: Body is in very good condition with signs of age and use, and brassing on the body. Lens is in excellent-plus condition with no fungus, haze or scratches, and is clean.
• Functional: Body is fully working at all shutter speeds. Self-timer is not working. The light meter is not working. Lens is fully working and smooth.

The AF-D lens has no meter coupling prong, so the DP-2 cannot meter with it; but since the internal light meter is non functional, it makes little difference. Recommend metering externally. The self-timer and the finder meter are not working, which is priced into the Good grade.
